I'm putting this here, really wishing we had a community chat.
I know numerous around the site, know mee and my family live in Northern Cali, and yes, this fire is near our area.
Though we aren't being evacuated, the winds could effect that. Hoping not(we're quite a ways from it.)
Now, some know my mom has some bad respitory issues, and she's all right, but at times it gets a bit much on her, with all the smoke and ash in the area.
I just ask that you please keep tthese firecrews in your thoughts and prayers.
In all my time in the area, I've never seen a wildfire acting like this. I don't know if you know what firewhirls are, but inthis one, they are similar to tornadoes. Theseare what are creating the spot fires.
Again, me and my family are safe. I will try to keep you all updated if I can. A few are affected by it, as they work in one of the towns effected.
Thank you all for your patience.

I live in Coarsegold, but not even much smoke smell this year yet. Last year, I had to pack a few times before they called off the evacuation. Sorry to hear it's bad where you are. My prayers are with you!

Today we were told via a press conference, for the first time, they're moving from defense, to offense, so should help to gain the upper hand.
For those wantingg to more, it's the Carr fire. I know it's been on numerous newscasts around the nation, possibly outsiide as well.
The thing is, all the experrts keep saying, is they've never seen one behave the way this one has. At times it's like got it's own wind.
Thanks. I recall when we didn't see any, despite at least one other fire. Use to them by now, every year, but none like this one.
Big thing now, is keeping drones out of the air. It gets in the way of air attacks

What do you think might be causing it to be so weird and different this time?
no clue, 19945

Even the top experts have no clue. Could try to guess but besides something not of this earth, not the foggiest.
Winds fuel it the most causing it to move rapidly and act strangely. Like the Firenados that cause so much destruction. Luckily now they are gaining the upper hand.

That's good. It got pretty smoky here a couple days ago but still no evacuation warnings, thank goodness.
I'm still interested in learning more about this weirdness phenomenon. Any info about it online you could direct me to?
Best bet, 19947

The only thing I could think of is search for the CARR fire.
Though with it still raging, they maynot know yet. Each televised press conference has yet to reveal anything except latest numbers.

Let us know what you find out. I didn't find anything in a search just now. It would make a good addition to the wikipedia page. Looks like it's 90% contained as of today, so that's good. The one up by me got 100% contained two days ago.
