PlayByWeb is a free site for the purpose of playing role-playing games in a play-by-post format.

I. By using this site, you accept these terms of use. We reserve the right, without prior notification, to modify, add, or remove portions of these terms at any time. Please check these terms periodically for changes. Your continued use of the site following the posting of changes to these terms indicates acceptance of those changes.

II. Each and every message posted must be relevant to the game/forum or message you are replying to or conform to the stated purposes (e.g. only ads for games played on PBW are to be posted in the Classifieds).

a. Games on PBW should be bona fide games or discussions. Boards established for the purpose of ridiculing recognizable individuals or the promotion of off-site games and/or contests are not allowed.

b. If you find content which violates copyright law or any point within these terms of use, please do not attempt to police the situation yourself, but rather bring the matter to the attention of the directors of PBW, Inc. [abuse@playbyweb.com]. Be sure to include sufficient information for the directors to find the problem.

III. Although most games are run by adults for adult players, PlayByWeb is a family board with members of all ages. We ask that you consider that some of our younger members may read your posts, and to use appropriate language in all publicly viewable posts. While some rough language and/or mild sexual content may be appropriate to the game, we ask that regular use of such language and/or more explicit sexual content be restricted to private threads, and furthermore, if a primary purpose of the game in question, that the game be relocated to the Adult section.

a. We recognize that some of our members wish to play games with mature themes, and we provide the Adult section for this purpose, where all moves are closed to lurkers. Game admins are responsible for ensuring that individual members are of appropriate age to participate.

b. Games with adult material found in the general boards *will* be moved to the adult section by the site admins. This will be at our discretion, and not open to discussion.

IV. Messages violating the rules may be deleted without apology. Participants consistently violating the rules may be banned without apology.
