Madeleine kept on with her "lion taming", using the chair as a defense and the sock/nail flail to try and hit "Beta" again.

Groovy, Madeleine moves in closer to press her advantage. Can I get an another action declaration from Hannibal or Duncan? If Hannibal is about to try something, he can get the Helping Hand bonus from Duncan.

OOC: What does Hannibal knows about the oil heater and the oil lamp and does he know what to do with them?

There are several ways I could answer Hannibal's question, most of them smart-mouthed, a few possibly funny.

I see no reason why Hannibal the character wouldn't be able to think of any idea that his player could, so go ahead. Concerning the lamp and heater specifically, he can smell that their is kerosine inside them.

By the way, you guys can assume more ownership of the story if you like. For example, maybe Duncan were to declare that he finds a box of matches inside the desk. I would respond, okay, I can always bump up the Difficulty by a point to account for Duncan's luck -- or increase the Damage if Duncan fails his next roll.

OOC: Lol, ok I was just wondering. :)

IC:

Captain Gray grabs the lamp and splashes the kerosene over the dog and throws the heater at it.

OOC: Let me know if rolls are needed.

OOC: I wonder how big the kerosene heater actually is...still just the smell of the kerosene may cause the dog to bug out, given their sensitive noses.

I just in my previous post wrote a note about taking more ownership of the game. This could be an example. The heater is as large as it needs to be. That is covered in the next roll. If Hannibal fails the rolls, the heater was too small or nearly empty. If Hannibal doesn't roll well (a Critical from rolling a natural 1), then the heater was too large and too full, splashing fuel onto himself and Duncan.

Hannibal, please roll me another attack roll (1D10 + Body + Combat). Add and extra +1 because Duncan is helping (Duncan's Combat Skill is 1). If successful (which I'm sure it will be), the dog will go poof. (1 damage from Madeleine's attack + 1 from Hannibal's attack will reduce it to -1 Body Energy).

The beta dog turns an snaps at Madeleine but gets a face full of chair for its trouble. At almost the same time, Madeleine's flail smacks the dog's skull with a satisfying cracking sound. She gets pulled out of the way by Airman Lefty as a large heater, thrown by Hannibal and Duncan flies across the room and crashes into the dog. The combined fumes from kerosine and cloriform are almost overwhelming. Hannibal follows up with a thrown small oil lamp from the desk. The dog spectactularly bursts into flames, stumbles a few more sideways steps, and collapses into a burning pile of hair and gore.

Airman Wright complains. 'Sorry Captain, I don't know what happened there. I stabbed that mongrel enough times that he stopped bleeding, and it just kept on jumping and biting. Could they be feeding opiants to their dogs to make immune to pain?'

Although very dead and completely immobile, the bodies of both dogs are still twitching. The alpha dog is still kicking its legs, although the legs are moving blindly and without any cooridination. Doctor Vogel, with a handkerchief over his mouth, moves to the alpha dog for a closer look. 'Fascinating,' he says.

Walking with a limb to the dead dogs, Capt. Gray, "That's a good question, airman." He pulls out the gun and pulls the trigger one time each in each dog's head to see if it would stop the twitching. "Maddy, do you have any bandages and medicine? I'm wounded and I need to attend to that."

Cap buries more bullets into the dogs' skulls, but the twitching continues. To his amazement, a severed tail (from which dog, he doesn't even know) looks like its wagging. The smell and smoke are getting very bad, to the point where Hannibal is feeling woozy.

Madeleine has some basic supplies looted from the hospital, if she wants to have them.

Duncan is dragging a reluctant doctor to the door. Where are you going?

In game terms, you guys now have some options. You could opt to hide somewhere and rest for a while. This is called a Healing Scene. Healing Scenes allow each Star to fully recharge one attribute of his or her choice.

Your second option is pushing forward and keeping your Healing Scene to use later.

Someone else mentioned that problem in the PlaybyWeb forum. I am in the habit of checking most days instead of waiting for updates, so it hasn't been an issue for me. I think someone is working on this issue.

Okay, I'll see you all in the next scene!
